Chalk River House is a 515 m² family home designed by London-based Oliver Leech Architects. The project harmonises traditional and contemporary architecture, using a palette of lime render, handmade bricks, timber, and zinc to reflect the surrounding landscape and local materials.
To complement the home’s calm, natural aesthetic and expansive glazing, the architects specified Silent Gliss electric curtain tracks SG 5600. These were recessed into the ceiling, allowing the curtains to appear as though they cascade directly from the ceiling surface – enhancing the minimalist design and maintaining clean architectural lines.
The SG 5600 system was chosen for its quiet operation, automated control, and seamless integration, particularly in the rear pavilion where large glazed openings frame views of the river and mature trees. The curtain tracks support the architectural vision of openness and refuge, offering both privacy and elegance. “Our approach was to open out the house to views of the river as much as possible while retaining a sense of refuge within the house,” said Oliver Leech Architects.
